By launching Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Bharti Airtel has become the first private player to offer the service in the country.

The company will now offer triple play service - telephony, broadband and television over a single line to customers in the NCR and will be followed by eight leading metros. The service will also offer features such as real-time interactivity, where customers can order pizzas and book movie tickets on their TV, record programmes for seven days, rewind, forward, and Movie on Demand (MOD).

With the aim to bring to the PlayStation Network video service, MTVN’s collection of shows to the PS3 and PSP networks, SCEA and MTV Networks (MTVN) have joined hands.

It should be noted here that U. S. telecommunications regulation and policy is overseen by the FCC and regulation of telephone and cable companies; oversight of concentration of ownership of radio, television outlets, and auctioning public airwaves are all included in its reach.

With the aim to attract more and more customers, Sony Ericson recently unveiled its W508 Walkman phone. The highlight of this set is that the users are allowed to mange their music via PlayNow arena, TrackID, Shake and Gesture Controls without any hassle.

The users are also allowed to personalize the phone with eight changeable style-up covers and SenseMe depending on the mood.

On Wednesday, a digital media player with a built-in 500GB hard drive and support for HD video was introduced by Netgear.

The name of the Digital Entertainer Elite is EVA9150, which allows the user to watch videos, images and listen to music on their TV and stereo.

Furthermore, the users can also acquire access to Internet content, like YouTube, Internet radio, Flickr and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds.

Reliance Big Pictures is gearing up to release 18 movies for 2009 release. Out of these, 11 films will be released in Hindi while the other seven films will be in five regional languages. Big Pictures in association with Excel entertainment will release Luck By Chance, the directorial debut of Zoya Akhtar on 30 January. The movie stars are Farhan Akhtar, Juhi Chawla, Konkana Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Hrithik Roshan in a special appearance.  

Two weeks before, when 2Wire introduced its MediaPoint set-top box, it was reported that “It'll be a matter of weeks--if not days--before you see a yet-to-be-named service provider offering its own version of the MediaPoint, possibly at a sub-$100 price point.”

However, since that initial provider turns out to be Blockbuster Video, the curtain has been pulled back. The company’s version of the MediaPoint box is being offered for just $99, which includes a credit for 25 movies, for a limited period of time.
