A novel website dubbed Microsoft Elevate America was unveiled by Microsoft on Sunday, which basically is a portal developed to help consumers, students, and other interested parties with some basic computer skills.

The state governments, including Florida, Oregon, and Washington would be able to avail a complementary version of the site with discounted certifications.

It was confirmed by Adobe on Thursday that major security vulnerability is present in its Acrobat and Reader software.

In its security advisory, Adobe informed, "This vulnerability would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. There are reports that this issue is being exploited."

With a view to expand its marketing network and ramp up its production capacity, electronic and electrical products maker, Panasonic said that it would invest $300 million in India by the next three years.

The Japanese company would also come up with some factories during this period. At present, the company imports washing machines, air conditioners and plasma TVs from its Thailand and Japan units in India.     

In light of the highly uncertain global economic conditions, Hewlett-Packard, world’s largest PC maker, has instituted pay cuts for all of its employees worldwide.

Almost all departments, including sales and administration divisions, will be affected by the company's "work-sharing" plan, initially implemented for certain workers and factories, in order to avoid layoffs.

The company, however, feels that a company-wide workforce reduction is not the best solution for the current global economic crises.

Spice Group has evinced interest in acquiring stake in the fraud-hit IT company.

The group said that it would invest in Satyam Computer Services only if the software company gives the majority stake in it.

The Company Law Board (CLB) on Thursday sanctioned Satyam’s plan to raise its capital to sell around 26% to a strategic investor via preferential allotment of shares.
