‘Sun Tech Days 2009’ To Be Held In Hyderabad From Feb 18Country’s premier software industry, Sun Microsystems is all set to organize its global annual developer conference at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Hyderabad February 18-20 for the third time in a row.

Apart from Hyderabad, the conference would also have its supporting sessions in Pune and Chennai.

In its press release, the company said that the three day event is fundamentally designed to display how developers can leverage Sun technologies, services and products to drive the next generation of technology innovation.

Kiran Karnik, Satyam’s new chairman

Kiran Karnik New Delhi, Feb. 6, : Former President of The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Kiran Karnik was appointed as the chairman of Satyam Computers Services Ltd. on Friday.

The decision of Karnik's appointment came a day after appointment of A. S. Murthy as its new chief executive officer. Karnik would be the chairman of Satyam's six-member board.

The Government had initially constituted the board of Satyam with three members including Karnik, Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) chairman Deepak Parekh and past presiding officer of Securities Appellate Tribunal C. Achutan.

Nasscom lowers IT-BPO growth projections for FY09The association of IT-BPO industry, NASSCOM has revised the growth projections of software and service exports to 16-17% for the financial year 2008-09 at $47 billion as compared to its earlier estimates of $50 billion. The body said that demand in the segment declined under the impact of global slowdown that led it to revise its revenue growth targets.

Martin Scott, senior vice president of research and technology development at Rambus reported, "As consumer expectations grow for more media-rich applications on their mobile devices, new memory solutions will be needed to keep pace with the rapidly increasing bandwidth requirements."
