Corporator in cop custody till Feb 27

The Bhiwandi court, on Tuesday, extended the police custody of Santosh M Shetty, NCP corporator from Bhiwandi, along with three accused till February 27, for allegedly assaulting a cable operator on Wednesday.

According to police records, Kantibhai Jain, 45, a local cable operator in Bhiwandi, was attacked last Wednesday by four people and his office was ransacked. NCP corporator Santosh M Shetty, his brother Rajesh Shetty, Shetty's body guard Ranganath Tripathi and rickshaw driver Sallauddin Ansari were arrested for alleged involvement in the assault. Shetty also runs a cable network and, it seems, the two had a disagreement over the areas of cable connections.
