Coup in Guinea-Bissau - president reported killed

Lisbon - The army of Guinea-Bissau staged a coup and shot dead President "Nino" Vieira on Monday, Portuguese media reported.

A witness told the news agency Lusa that he had seen Vieira's body after his residence was attacked.

The alleged coup followed a bombing that killed army chief Batista Tagme Na Wai. (dpa)
