Ganesh utsav brings Kolkata’s pot-bellied onto the football field
Kolkata, Sept 10 : Kolkata chose to celebrate Ganesh Utsav in a different way this year.
They organized a football match which featured only pot-bellied players. Men with huge pot bellies, just like Lord Ganesh himself, ran around kicking the ball to the great amusement of spectators.
The pot-bellied players struggled hard to play the game on a marshy field.
Interestingly, only men with a waist size of above 42 inches were allowed to participate in the match.
“This match has been taking place since the past 11 years now and I have been playing it and I love playing it. This is very famous and only those with big tummies are allowed to play,” said Jagdish Gosh, a 47-inch pot-bellied football player.
