Rahm Emanuel – Democratic Congressman from Illinois, and a veteran of the Clinton administration - has accepted the President-elect Barack Obama’s offer to become the new White House chief of staff. Informing Obama of his decision on Thursday, Emanuel said he would step down as the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives to help guide the Obama administration.
The BJP had demanded for a CBI probe into the killing of Bihar youth Rahul Raj. Raj was killed in a shootout with Mumbai Police on 27 October.
"The postmortem report and the comments of the medical experts clearly indicate that there was foul play in the killing of the youth. Our party demands a CBI inquiry into the incident so that the truth is known," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

Punjab Government has refused to allow former Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) chief A P Pandey available for a Central posting. Union Government has sent a letter to Punjab in this regard. But the state govt. is not replying to that one.
"We wrote to the state Govt.on September 11, asking if 1974-batch IPS officer AP Pandey, who stands empanelled as Director-General, could be made available for Central deputation. The letter categorically said the Government's response should reach us by September 16. However, we have still not received any reply," said a senior officer in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
