Thousands of doses of the meningitis C vaccine recalled Manufacturer Novartis recalled 21,000 doses of the meningitis C vaccine as a precautionary step.

Novartis said that it had discovered traces of Staphylococcus Aureus in the aluminium hydroxide solvent in which the vaccine is suspended, during tests on other vials - made at the same time - which had as an experiment been sent by air, rather than by road as they were to Britain. The Staphylococcus Aureus bacterium is associated with blood poisoning and skin infections.

Report revealed that number of underage births has fallen because of increased use of abortion in last ten years but Britain has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in Europe.

In 2007 there were 41.9 conceptions for every 1,000 under-18 girls as compared to 40.9 the year previously and the first rise since 2002.

Researchers at Bangor University found that people who are mentally fatigued and exercise reach the point of physical exhaustion sooner than they do if they are mentally rested before exercising.

Also, they found that even though being exhausted after work doesn't actually affect the muscles, it does make it harder for people to exercise so vigorously.

40% increase in weight loss surgeryRecent survey revealed that number of people getting weight loss surgery has increased by 40% from last year. Figures revealed that 2,724 cases of "bariatric surgery" including stomach stapling, gastric bypasses and sleeve gastrectomy were performed by NHS in 2007/08.  

The report by the NHS Information Centre also revealed that there has been 30% increase in overall hospital admissions for obesity from the previous year to 5,018.

Research team led by Katy Backes Kozhimannil of Harvard Medical School in Boston analyzed data collected from more than 11,000 pregnant women enrolled in New Jersey's Medicaid program from July 2004 to September 2006. The women were followed for six months before to one year after the women gave birth.

Everyone in Modasa to be vaccinated Modi government is gearing up to fight Hepatitis-B outbreak which has claimed 37 lives according to official number. However the State Congress spokesman and the former leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Arjun Modhvadia, claimed that the epidemic has taken life of not less than 60 people in Modasa alone.

Government has planned to vaccinate all people in Modasa in 62 booths by 2000 health department employees. Government has also ordered all the hotels and restaurants in Modasa town in Sabarkantha district in north Gujarat to be closed. Various team of experts visited the affected area.
