Recently a ‘biodegradable’ phone has been introduced by Sony Ericson, The GreenHeart Concept And Biodegradable Phone Launched By Sony Ericson phone reportedly will be made of materials like the bio-plastic, recycled plastic keypads, zero charger that has 3.5mW standby power.

To add more, it will come in an eco-friendly packaging and to reduce paper waste, the manuals would be digital.

Mats Pellback-Scharp, Head of Corporate Sustainability for Sony Ericsson, said, “The global take back scheme and the GreenHeart project bring us closer to our vision of being a leader in sustainability in the mobile phone industry.”

Talking about the looks of the phone, it seems from the pictures released on the internet, that it will have very simple and plain looks, but however would be loaded with lot of environmentally-friendly features, which should make it commercially acceptable.

Prior to Sony’s move, Nokia already had entered into green phone sector by introducing collection points or bins where users can deposit their recyclable phones. Sony Ericson too has set up points where phones can be put for recycling.
