Hackers steal payroll data of Wm Morrison

Hackers steal payroll data of Wm MorrisonMorrisons, a leading super market chain in the UK, has said that the payroll data of tis staff has been compromised by the hackers.

The supermarket has said that the majority of its staff members have been affected by the data theft. The company said that the details of around 100,000 employees have been stolen in the country. The details stolen from the company's system includes bank account details. Hackers have published the stolen data online and sent on a disc to a newspaper.

The Bradford-based chain said that its initial investigation has shown that the hacking might be in internal breach and not the world of an external hacker. The company affirmed its customers that no customers details have been stolen. Morrisons says that staff will be not be "financially disadvantaged" by the data theft.

Chief Executive, Dalton Philips has said that he is working with the police and cybercrime authorities in order to investigate the matter. The West Yorkshire Police is heading the criminal inquiry into the theft.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Wallen said, "We are aware of the situation and are supporting Morrisons and their investigation into these matters."
