India’s premier business school, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), has reported a decline in in international placements of of its finalbatch, apparantly due to persistent slugishness in global economic growth.

According to institute’s recently released report, there was a reverse trend in hiring of its students by overseas companies. The number of students placed hired by overseas companies slipped to 15 this year, from 40 last year.

The released figures also showed that the highest pay-package offered by international ompanies was $1,25,000.

The highest domestic salary offered for the institute’s flagship Post-graduate Program in Management (PGP) in financial services and the insurance sectors was Rs 32,65,000.

Boston Consulting Group emerged as the top recruiter across different clusters. It picked 15 students from the institues campus. Accenture and and McKinsey & Co followed by recruiting 13 and 10 students from the campus.

Out of the IIM-A’s 373 PGP students eligible for placements in this year’s programme, a total of 360 opted for placement through the institute, while five sough entrepreneurship.
