Dutch Eredivisie leaders AZ beat Roda JC 1-0 Amsterdam - Dutch football team AZ beat Roda JC 1-0 Wednesday night to extend their lead atop the Netherlands' first division.

The game was scoreless until Mounir el-Hamdaoui's goal with 15 minutes to play. It was the 17th goal of the season for el-Hamdaoui, the leading scorer in the Eredivisie, the Dutch top league.

AZ now has 53 points, nine ahead of second-place FC Twente.

Wednesday's match marked AZ's 10th consecutive victory. (dpa)
