Sevilla striker Chevanton to miss rest of season

Ernesto ChevantonMadrid - Sevilla striker Ernesto Chevanton will be out of action for the rest of the season, the Spanish club said Thursday.

Chevanton, 28, has a cyst on his left knee and will need to undergo an urgent operation, club doctor Adolfo Munoz said.

The Uruguayan forward, who has been plagued by injury since joining Sevilla from AS Monaco in 2006, will be out for between three and five months.

The only good news for Sevilla, who are third in La Liga, is that Brazilian forward Luis Fabiano is fit to return after a month out. (dpa)
