Suhakam welcomes govt’s decision to not stop intake of Indian workers
Kuala Lumpur, Jan 12: Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) has welcomed the recent decision of the government to not stop the intake of specialised workers from India, Tamil Nesan reported.
Suhakam hopes that the Government will tighten its rules on the intake of skilled workers from India and other countries so that their basic rights can be safeguarded.
Commissioner N. Siva Subramaniam said that some irresponsible employers had treated their foreign workers inhumanely which resulted in problems for the country.
These employers forced workers to do overtime, ill-treated them and failed to pay them wages.
He said action must be taken against agents in India who had fleeced the Indian nationals, the Star Online reported. (ANI)
