Blanchett injured but show goes on

Sydney - Oscar-winning Australian actress Cate Blanchett will continue to perform after being injured in a Sydney Theatre Company production.

Blanchett was accidentally hit on the head Wednesday night by a radio prop, forcing the preview performance of A Streetcar Named Desire to be cancelled and audience members evacuated, Sydney Theatre Company spokesman Tim McKeough told the Australian Associated Press (AAP).

Blanchett, playing Blanche DuBois, was injured during a scene with Joel Edgerton, who portrays Stanley Kowalski, a part immortalized by Marlon Brando in the Hollywood movie.

McKeough said that Blanchett was fine and was confident that she would be back on stage Thursday night. (dpa)
