Fire truck crash leaves 2 Virginia firefighters dead
Officials have revealed that two Rocky Mount, Va., firefighters were killed Monday when their fire truck crashed and flipped en route to a fire in a neighboring community.
According to the reports, the city's mayor, a county fire marshal and a witness told The Roanoke Times the fire truck collided with a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Old Franklin Turnpike and Route 220, flipped multiple times and landed upside down on top of a convertible.
The Times also said that the fire truck was responding to a fire in Penhook.
One person was removed from the fire truck and flown by helicopter to a hospital and another person was pinned under the truck, the newspaper further added.
According to the newspaper, it wasn't known whether occupants of the SUV and convertible were injured. (With Inputs from Agencies)
