Colombia thanks Spain for support

Madrid - Colombian President Alvaro Uribe has called Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero to thank Spain for its constant support in Colombia's fight against the FARC guerrillas, media reported Thursday.

Uribe also gave Zapatero details concerning Ingrid Betancourt's release.

Zapatero sent congratulating telegrammes to Uribe and the Betancourt family.

Spanish government sources described Betancourt as a "symbol for all the hostages" in Colombia and called for their unconditional release. (dpa)
