Nepal PM says he would take first political visit to India

Kathmandu, Pushpa Kamal DahalAugust 27 : Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday said he would go to India for his first political visit after taking charge of the PM office.

He further clarified that his China visit was not of political nature as he had gone there to take part in Olympics closing ceremony.

Dahal tried to clear up the speculations regarding his going to China as his maiden foreign tour, as there is a tradition of visiting India first by a newly elected Nepali Prime Minister.

According to Kantipur, he said that India should not take his China visit otherwise as it was not political.

Addressing a press conference, Dahal said his China visit has added a new dimension to the bilateral relations between Nepal and her northern neighbour and his China visit was an achievement for Nepal.

The Prime Minister left for China with an 11-member team including his wife Sita, Communication Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Foreign Secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya and personal doctor Damodar Gajurel on Saturday to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

In Beijing, he met with the Chinese President and the Chinese Prime Minister during his three-day visit. (ANI)
