B. C. new legislation prohibits smoking in the presence of children under 16. The new law will come into effect on World Health Day, April 7. The new law will allow police to stop any vehicle on suspicion of smoking in the presence of children and charge $109 fine if found guilty. Anyone refusing to pay fine will not be issued both a driver's licence and insurance. Parents are applauding this effort of government to protect children from danger of second hand smoke.
