Philippines confident US ties to remain strong after elections

Manila - The Philippine government on Tuesday expressed confidence that its relationship with the United States would remain strong whoever wins the presidential race.

The government "is positive that whatever the outcome of the US presidential race, the Philippines and the US will continue to prosper as friends and allies," said presidential deputy spokesman Lorelei Fajardo.

The Philippines also wished the American people "a peaceful and fair elections," she added. (dpa)
