Patna, Feb 4 : Shutdown call given by the three Left parties here today in protest against the non-implementation of the recommendations of the sixth pay commission paralysed normal life in Bihar.
The three Left parties namely the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) CPI (ML) jointly staged a protest to support the cause of the striking employees.
Patna, Jan 31 : Children held a peace march in Patna to protest against the spurt of terror activities in the country.
Holding placards, they took to streets on the occasion of ''Martyr''s Day'', which commemorates Mahatma Gandhi''s death anniversary.
"We have staged this peace march as a mark of public grievances against terrorism and to give a message to militants that we will not fear by their act of terror. We consider ourselves strong enough to fight against them," said Deepti Khanna, a child volunteer.
Maigra Village (Bihar), Jan 29 : Maoists blew up the control room of a cellular telephone''s tower at Maigra village in Gaya District of Bihar to snap communication links in the area.
About 50 heavily armed activists of the Communist Party of India (Maoists) attacked the control room of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
(BSNL) tower.
According to the security guard deployed at the tower, the rebels forced him to vacate the place before they detonated it with dynamites.
Patna, Jan. 28 : Slum dwellers took to the streets in protest against the use of the word ''dog'' in the Oscar-nominated film ''Slumdog Millionaire''here on Wednesday.
Protesters shouted slogans saying the film''s title was humiliating for them.
Amit Kumar, President of the Patna Slum Community, said that the title of the film was offensive and a reminder of how the British used to treat Indians in colonial times.
