Sana'a, Yemen - A Yemeni state security court on Tuesday convicted two Yemenis of spying for Iran and sentenced them to death. The court acquitted a third defendant.
Abdul-Kareem Lalji, 33, and Hani Muhammed Deen, 31, were found guilty of the charges of "illegal contact with a foreign state, and the transmission of military information to it."
Presiding judge Muhssien Alwan said the court acquitted the third defendant Iskandar Abdullah Yusuf, 57, for the lack of evidence.
Tehran - Ali Daei was dismissed as Iran coach after a 2-1 home defeat against Saudi Arabia in a World Cup qualifier, ISNA news agency reported on Sunday.
Other news agencies also confirmed Daei's dismissal, including official news agency IRNA.
ISNA had earlier Sunday quoted Iranian Football Federation (FFI) president Ali Kafashian as saying that an emergency FFI session was held in this regard.
Washington - A US court on Friday ordered Iran to pay 25 million dollars plus interest to the family of an Israeli soldier kidnapped and killed by Hamas 15 years ago.
Nachshon Wachsman, a 19-year-old soldier with both US and Israeli citizenship, was kidnapped by four members of Hamas in 1994, while waiting for a ride on a street in Lod, Israel.
He was held captive for six days before being executed by his captors as the Israeli military staged a rescue operation to free him oustide Jerusalem.
Tehran - Iran had no hostility toward the United States but requires signs of amity to put an end to three decades of diplomatic estrangement, ex-president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani said at a Friday prayer ceremony in Tehran.
"We have no hostility with the American nation, but there should be some signs of goodwill to change the status quo," said Rafsanjani, who still plays an influential role in the Iranian political scene as head of the Experts Assembly, a powerful religious body.
