Los Angeles - Porn star Marilyn Chambers, who pioneered the transformation of adult movies from the furtive to the mainstream, has died at age 56 at her Los Angeles County home, police said Monday. Chambers, whose real name was Marilyn Ann Taylor, starred in 1972's Behind The Green Door, which is often seen as the first porn film to gain widespread distributions as video cassettes were becoming popular in US homes. Chambers was famous at the time as a model for a popular soap brand and her career switch to porn star was widely covered in the media.

Los Angeles - The wife of actor and producer Mel Gibson has filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage, the website TMZ. com reported Monday. Robyn Gibson filed the divorce papers last week citing irreconcilable difference. The couple has seven children, but only one is a minor, Tom, aged 10.

According to TMZ. com the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, so under California law all property and assets will be split evenly. Gibson's wealth has been estimated as high as 900 million dollars.

Lost Angeles - Nadya Suleman, the US single mother of 14 children including recently-born octuplets, has four production companies bidding to create a TV reality show out of her day-to-day chaos, "Us" magazine reported Saturday. Jeff Czech, Suleman's lawyer, told Us that Nadya was "interested in, and hoping to find, something not so intrusive to the family and babies while, at the same time, (something to) sort of focus on trying to make a little income for herself."

Los Angeles - Dave Arneson, who co-created the Dungeons & Dragons game, which pioneered the format for role-playing video games has died aged 61 after a two-year battle with cancer. Wizards of the Coast, the company that produces Dungeons & Dragons, said Friday that Arneson died in a hospice in Minnesota on Tuesday.

Arneson developed the game in 1974 together with Gary Gygax, who died in March 2008. The game was one of the first to allow players to assume and develop an individual character while embarking on complex quests, and has inspired countless computer games.

Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Lakers welcomed back Andrew Bynum, and sent the Denver Nuggets packing with another loss at Staples Centre. Kobe Bryant scored 33 points, Spain's Pau Gasol had 27 with a career-high 19 rebounds and the Lakers snapped the Nuggets' eight-game winning streak, 116-102 on Thursday night.

Though the Lakers one-two punch knocked out the Nuggets at Staples Centre for the 22nd time in the last 24 meetings, and moved one-half game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the best record in the NBA, the night belonged to Bynum.

Los Angeles - Police in southern California Wednesday were investigating a brutal shooting spree in which one person was killed and three injured at a secluded retreat operated by a Korean-based Christian group.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the suspect in the late Tuesday killings was a 69-year-old man named John Chong who was known around the retreat centre as "Uncle". Police said that he first killed a woman and injured her husband in their bungalow and then went to another house on the property, where two residents succeeded in fighting him off.
