Scientists developing a ‘Love Potion’

Scientists developing a ‘Love Potion’Falling in love or make someone fall in love won’t be that difficult anymore, since a nose spray is under trial for this purpose. The latest tests have shown that drugs could be used to alter the brain's emotion-controlling areas to heighten or suppress feelings of attraction.

The researchers said, “The treatments could be used to aid marriage counseling or even help a person stay monogamous.”

It was learnt while interacting with the scientist that bottled hormones and chemical scents called pheromones have long been marketed as dating aids. However, experts argue that they do a little except for increasing confidence.

The latest study and tests conducted on animals however show that the hormone oxytocin can 'reinforce' emotional feelings and enhance monogamy.

Prof. Larry Young, of Emory University in the US informed, “There is intriguing overlap between the brain areas involved in vole pair bonding and those associated with human love.”

Prof. Young added that drugs, which could manipulate brain systems quickly to control human emotions may soon be available.
