Shooting in eastern Lebanon kills two phalange members
Beirut - Two Christian Phalange members were killed and three others were wounded Sunday when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the party's headquarters in Zahle, eastern Lebanon, Lebanese police said.
According to the police, the gunmen in a speeding car fired automatic weapons at the Phalange party headquarters as the group was inaugurating their new office.
An eyewitness said the son of former president Amin Gemayel, head of the Phalange party, had just left the headquarters after the inauguration.
Gemayel's oldest son, Pierre, who was a minister and member of parliament, was killed in car bomb blast in November 21, 2006.
Shortly after the incident took place, police and army soldiers cordoned off the area to prevent any escalation of the tension. (dpa)
