Toni expected back to boost Bayern
Munich - Bayern Munich expect Italy striker Luca Toni to resume team training on Monday in a boost for the German champions ahead of a key Bundesliga clash against VfL Wolfsburg and a Champions League trip to Barcelona.
Midfielder Hamit Altintop is also due back following injury while defender Massimo Oddo has already resumed training with the team.
Toni has been sidelined for four weeks with an Achilles tendon injury but has been undergoing fitness training daily with rehabilitation coach Thomas Wilhelmi in Bologna.
"It couldn't be going better. We are expecting him back in team training on Monday," coach Juergen Klinsmann told the Bayern Munich homepage Friday.
With fellow striker Miroslav Klose out for several weeks following ankle surgery, Toni's return will be timely for Bayern ahead of a trip to Wolfsburg - joint second in the table - and Barcelona four days later.
Fellow Italian Oddo has recovered from a calf injury while Turkish international Altintop is on the way back from a calf muscle fibre tear. (dpa)
