Hamas: Palestinians agree on interim unity government Gaza City/Cairo - The Palestinian movement Hamas announced Wednesday evening that Palestinian factions have reached agreement in Cairo on forming a transitional unity government.

Hamas leader Fawzi Barhoum, currently in Cairo, said in a written statement that representatives of the factions holding talks in the Egyptian capital agreed the transitional government would prepare for new elections on a date no later than January 25, 2010. (dpa)
