Munich - Barcelona booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday with a creditable 1-1 draw away to Bayern Munich. Barca go into the semis on an impressive 5-1 aggregate, because they thrashed Bayern 4-0 in the Camp Nou last Wednesday.
In the semi-finals Barca will meet old enemies Chelsea, who dramatically edged out Liverpool in Tuesday's other quarter-final second leg 7-5 on aggregate after the tie finished at 4-4 on the night.
Munich - The economic slump in the euro zone has worsened, economists from three nations said Tuesday in a new study.
"Despite the deployment of government stimulus packages, the economic outlook remains gloomy," said the joint report by the IFO Institute of Germany, Insee of France and the ISAE economic research institute of Italy.
The group said the decline had become steeper since the start of this year and the euro zone was now in a serious recession.
Munich - Bayern Munich coach Juergen Klinsmann ran out of patience in the wake of a 5-1 humiliation at VfL Wolfsburg, telling his players on Sunday that their personal future and that of the club is at stake over the next days and weeks.
"It is important to me that everyone understands what is at stake here: the year 2009 for Bayern, the future for Bayern," Klinsmann told reporters after adressing the team.
"The players must know that they face consequences at some stage. After the season we will review who has worked well and who hasn't."
Munich - Experts say there's no need to spend a lot of money on expensive programmes for burning CDs and DVDs given the wide range of free disc-burning software available on the market.
According to PC Professionell, a Munich-based magazine, there are plenty of free programmes available such as BurnAware, which is compatible with Microsoft's Windows 7 system and can also burn Blu-Ray discs.
It can also create ready-to-boot software and allows you to add data to already copied media. Another free programme with similar features is CDBurner XP.
Munich - Meeting in Munich, 18 special envoys concerned with Afghanistan and Pakistan vowed Wednesday to step up cooperation and focus on the success of free elections this year in Afghanistan.
Germany hosted the consultations in the Bavarian city, the first meeting of the Afghanistan and Pakistan Support Group.
In a statement, the German Foreign Ministry said Berlin would coordinate the panel in future.
